Yes! Last year was our first year and unfortunately we underestimated how difficult it would be to sight on the swim back from the island to the beach. This year we purchase and will be using additional large sighting bouys to help guide swimmers back to the beach.

Yes, the event will be rain or shine with the only caveat being thunder and lighting. If we observe thunder or lightning we will postpone the event for up to 1hr to allow a storm to pass but if the storms persists more than 1hr we will unfortunatley need to cancel the swim. If the event is cancelled, we will not be issuing refunds for the registration fees. Each participant will still receive their event day t-shirt and all proceeds will go to the Lake Association.  

Yes, this year we have decided to donate all proceeds of the event to the Spofford Lake Association!

We will not have any official time keeping for this swimming event. It is intended as a fun community swim, not a competetive event. That said, we welcome swimmers to use their own timing devices and swim as quickly (or slowly) as they desire! Our only restriction on timing is that we need all 0.8 mile swimmers back on the beach within 40 minutes and all 1.2 mile swimmers back within 60 minutes.
